Fees are set in 64CSR48 §6.8, read directly from the Secretary of State's copy of the legislative rule currently in force (filed 2026-04-13, effective 2026-07-01): initial certification via National Registry or state examination $37.50 (§6.8.1) and recertification via National Registry maintenance or the state process $18.75 (§6.8.2). These supersede the $75 / $37.50 figures previously recorded here, which came from search-engine-indexed text of the 2020 edition of the rule hosted on wvoems.org — that copy is an image-only scan, which is why the figures could not be checked at close-out. The rule sets no separate licence-issuance fee beyond the certification fee, so license is null. All fees are non-refundable and are deposited in the Emergency Medical Services Agency Licensure Fund under W. Va. Code §16-4C-6b.

64CSR48 §6.6 states that licensure as an EMD, EMVO, EMR, EMT, AEMT or Paramedic 'is valid for a period of two years with expiration dates determined by the Secretary' — the two-year cycle is now confirmed from the rule itself rather than inferred from the National Registry cycle.
