Terms of Use

Last updated 2026-07-10.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of statelicensed.org (the "Site"). The Site is a reference publication cataloging state occupational licensing requirements sourced from official state boards; it is not a licensing board, a legal service, or a substitute for confirming requirements directly with the issuing authority. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the Site you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. Continued use of the Site after an update to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised version.

2. A reference, not the source

The Site organizes and cites publicly available information published by state licensing boards, registries, and government agencies. It is not the source of the rules it describes — the issuing board is. Where our summary and the board's current published rule differ, the board's rule governs. See our methodology page for how records are sourced and verified.

3. Not legal advice

Information on the Site is provided for general informational purposes only. It is not legal, professional licensing, or career advice, and does not create any advisory or professional relationship between you and StateLicensed.

Licensing rules change, exceptions apply, and individual circumstances vary. Before you apply for, rely on, or make any decision based on a license requirement described on the Site, confirm the current rule directly with the issuing state board — the authority contact listed on every requirement page is the place to start.

4. Data accuracy & freshness

Every record on the Site carries the date it was verified against its source, and records older than 12 months are visibly flagged. We make a reasonable effort to re-verify records on a rolling schedule, but state boards can change requirements at any time without notice, and we make no guarantee that any specific figure is current, complete, or without error at the moment you read it.

If you rely on a figure from the Site for a high-stakes decision, verify it against the issuing board directly — every requirement page links to its source.

5. Content & intellectual property

The Site's original content — page layouts, design, code, and the structuring and presentation of licensing data — is the intellectual property of StateLicensed. Underlying licensing rules are public-record information published by government bodies and are not claimed as ours.

You may view, share, and quote short excerpts of the Site for personal or journalistic use with attribution and a link back. You may not scrape, mirror, or redistribute substantial portions of the Site, or use Site content to train machine-learning models, without prior written permission.

6. Your submissions

If you email us with a correction, feedback, or a suggestion, you grant StateLicensed a non-exclusive, perpetual license, with no royalty owed, to use that content to improve the Site, including publishing the corrected figure on the affected page. Do not send us anything you consider confidential.

7. Third-party links

The Site links to state board websites, training providers, and other third-party resources we do not own or control. Inclusion of a link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for the content or availability of any third-party site. Some links may be affiliate or sponsored links, disclosed where they appear; sponsorship never changes which requirement data is shown or how it's sourced.

8. Prohibited uses

You agree not to:

  • Scrape or systematically harvest content from the Site beyond what robots.txt permits.
  • Use Site content to train or fine-tune machine learning models, except for permitted personal browser-based use.
  • Misrepresent a figure from the Site as current when it is flagged as stale, or strip attribution from a published excerpt.
  • Probe, scan, or attempt to breach the security of the Site or related infrastructure.
  • Use the Site in any way that violates applicable law.

9. No warranty

THE SITE AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, OR COMPLETENESS. YOU USE THE SITE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, STATELICENSED AND ITS OPERATORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES — INCLUDING LOST TIME, LOST OPPORTUNITY, OR COSTS INCURRED FROM RELIANCE ON A LICENSING REQUIREMENT DESCRIBED ON THE SITE — ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SITE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO PARTS OF THIS SECTION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page. The "Last updated" date will reflect the change.
