    Meet the prerequisites

Fingerprinting is required ($40 electronic or hard-copy fee to NSBN); renewal applicants may also be selected to fingerprint again as part of a renewal cycle.     Complete training at a state-approved program. Applicants must graduate from an NSBN-approved practical nursing program (or an equivalent out-of-state/foreign program with credential evaluation). The Board's fee/instruction pages reviewed did not publish a specific statewide clock-hour minimum for LPN program length. [1]

    NCLEX-PN

    Pass the NCLEX-PN (fee: $200). Computerized adaptive test administered at Pearson VUE test centers. National registration fee paid directly to Pearson VUE, separate from Nevada's own initial application fee (see fees.application). [2]

NSBN's official fee schedule (effective 1/2023): LPN by examination and LPN by endorsement are both $90 as an initial application fee; there is no separate stand-alone 'license issuance' fee. The renewal application fee is $100. Active U.S. military members/veterans and their spouses qualify for a 50% reduced application fee with documentation.

Renewal & continuing education

Renew every 2 years. 30 continuing education hours required per cycle.

LPN licenses renew biennially. The Nevada Nurse Practice Act (NAC 632.343) requires 30 hours of nursing-related continuing education per renewal cycle, plus a one-time 4-hour bioterrorism course. New graduates are exempt from the 30-CE-hour requirement for their first renewal after graduation, but still must complete the one-time bioterrorism course.

Endorsement/reciprocity from another state is available.

Nevada is not currently a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact — it does not appear among the 43 jurisdictions on NCSBN's official NLC implementation map. NSBN's own materials confirm Nevada does not recognize multistate NLC licenses for practice in Nevada; nurses (including those holding an NLC multistate license elsewhere) must apply for a Nevada license by endorsement ($90 fee) to practice in the state. Nevada's legislature has discussed NLC enactment, but it was not enacted as of this research date.
