    Complete approved training

    Complete 90 hours of training at a state-approved program. Applicants must complete 90 hours of pre-licensing education from an LREC state-certified real estate school, covering real estate principles/practices, the Louisiana Real Estate License Law, Commission Rules/Regulations, Law of Agency, and Civil Law pertaining to real estate; 30 of the 90 hours (the law/rules/agency/civil-law portion) cannot be substituted with credit from another jurisdiction. After initial licensure, 45 hours of post-license education must be completed within 180 days of the initial license date (per La. R.S. 37:1437 / LREC page). [1]

Per the codified fee statute (La. R.S. 37:1443), the initial real estate salesperson's license fee is $45.00, and the active salesperson renewal fee is $35.00 (inactive renewal is also $35.00); there is no separate application fee beyond the license fee. LREC's own FAQ page lists bundled renewal totals of $77 (renewal + processing fee, third-party E&O) or $219 (renewal + LREC's group E&O policy), which layer optional processing/insurance costs on top of the statutory $35 base — the $35 statutory figure is used here per the rule to prefer the statute when it and other agency pages diverge on a number. Delinquent renewal fees range from $50 to $200 depending on how late.

Renewal & continuing education
