    Complete 120 hours of training at a state-approved program. Must complete 120 hours of approved pre-license education at a certified Real Estate Pre-License School, then pass the Real Estate Sales Agent Exam within one year of completing that education, and submit the license application within 90 days of passing the exam.     Utah Real Estate Sales Agent Examination

    Pass the Utah Real Estate Sales Agent Examination (fee: $69). Computer-based; 130 multiple-choice questions (80 national/general, 50 state law); 4-hour time limit Candidates must achieve a scaled score of 70 on both the National/General and State portions to pass. The application must be submitted within 90 days of passing the exam. [2]

The total fee for a new sales agent application is $154, which includes a $100 application fee, a $12 recovery fund fee, a $32 fingerprint processing fee, and a $10 RAP Back enrollment fee. There is no separate initial licensing fee. On-time renewal costs $102 total (including a $60 license renewal fee, $32 fingerprint processing fee, and $10 RAP Back fee, if not already enrolled). This is the fee schedule currently published by the Division (PDF labeled 'Effective until December 31, 2025'); no newer schedule was posted on the Division's site as of the access date, so these remain the applicable figures.

Renewal & continuing education

Renew every 2 years. 18 continuing education hours required per cycle.

Licenses must be renewed every two years. Active licensees must complete 18 hours of CE. For the first renewal, this must include the 12-hour New Agent Course and a 3-hour mandatory course. Subsequent renewals require 9 core hours (including the 3-hour mandatory course) and 9 elective hours. CE must be completed by the 15th of the renewal month.

Reciprocity

Endorsement/reciprocity from another state is available.

Utah holds formal reciprocity agreements with Georgia, Mississippi, and Alberta, Canada; licensees from those jurisdictions in good standing can transfer without retaking pre-license education or the exam. Applicants from other states with an active, good-standing license may qualify for a waiver of some education and/or national exam requirements, but must still take and pass at least the state-law portion of the exam (and possibly the national portion); the Division evaluates waiver scope case by case and does not publish a fixed required-hours figure.
